Panizzolo: All the news and records from Ecomondo 2018

Once again, this year the usual rendez-vous with Ecomondo at Rimini’s exhibition centre came to a close. A benchmark in Italy and abroad for companies operating in the Green Economy sector and that, like Panizzolo, provide systems to recycle and process metal and ferrous waste. This is why the end purpose of Panizzolo’s plant is to put all output fractions back on the market again as secondary raw materials.

During the intense days at Ecomondo, companies from all over the world visited the stand of the company based in Padua. They were able to see for themselves the quality of the hammermills, shredders and separation systems entirely made in Italy and designed with 30 years of hands-on experience.
The option of performing simple and effective treatments, reusing waste previously intended for landfills or exports drew strong interest, a calendar full of visits at Panizzolo’s offices and tangible sales negotiations.

Well-established visitors alternated with new companies from emerging countries. They were all provided with an interesting overview of its products: from the renowned range of hammermills with a flexible treatment (thanks to the patented interchangeable cradle) up to the latest new entries presented at the trade fair.
The wide audience of companies was very impressed, especially by the range of waste treatment systems offered. From the recycling of mixed post-consumption tins to the recovery of ferrous proler and aluminium from mixed waste from municipal solid waste (MSW). From the recovery of aluminium from profiles and guards combined with the grinding and refining of electric motors, up to the recovery of metals from WEEE and much more.

Thanks to the daily management of the grinding system in the renowned head office, highly competent staff were able to deal with the treatment issues of all the visitors at Panizzolo’s stand.
There was great appreciation for the new stationary hammermill model, Flex 500 Stationary Refine, which visitors were able to see and touch for themselves. The new model (90 kW and an output up to 2 tonne/h) is part of the category of Panizzolo pre-refiners designed to grind heavy waste and then recover all the metals.

As well as doubling the exhibition area, this year’s edition also featured the official presentation of RAF-F and RAF-M hammermills, also in place at the Panizzolo stand.
Designed for the grinding and granulation of metals (copper, aluminium and steel) from specific waste like FLUFF from mixed metals, FLUFF from flotation plants, de-ironed copper from electric motors, Fluff from WEEE treatments and much more.

Compared to the market, the new models perform mechanical treatments on far larger incoming pieces (up to 30 mm), provide a considerable reduction radio (equal to 5:1) and are structured for treatments in the presence of stainless steel and abrasive aggregates.
The components, patented and unique in the sector, are the result of two years of direct testing in the renowned head office. Companies across the world were very enthusiastic and two refining plants will be launched in Europe by the end of the year.
Not least important is the recognition recorded by the trade fair company behind Ecomondo. The new technological entry introduced by the patented refiners led to the release of a specific certificate in this regard.

Ecomondo is a successful rendez-vous for Panizzolo, whose unfailing presence is the climax of a long series of international trade fair events held in 2018. Starting from IFAT (Munich), the busy schedule continued with RWM, Aluminium, POL ECO and the Assofermet congress in Rome. The last event will be Pollutec (from 27 to 30 November), while in January 2019 Panizzolo will be at IERC where in the auditorium it will be the star of a conference on the recovery of metals from Fluff.

Eastern Europe: recovering metals from mixed MSW

All EU countries have big problems related to the disposal of mixed waste from urban centres.

The possibility to recover aluminium and iron content (especially from post-consumption tins) is strongly impeded by the high percentage of plastic, nylon and other wear-resistant inert materials (such as glass), which makes the treatment for the systems offered by the market excessively burdensome.

Until a few years ago, such  M.S.W. was sent to a landfill, which is no longer possible given the recent stringent regulations and the gradual closure of collection centres. However, conveying this waste to a complete and effective recovery cycle remains a current problem.

Panizzolo offers a concrete and efficient solution thanks to its recycling plants. A plant was opened in September in a large Eastern European company, dedicated to the recovery of aluminium and ferrous cans from from municipal solid waste (MSW).

Consisting of the Stationary Flex 1000 hammermill (250 kW – production up to 10 ton/h), complete with a patented interchangeable cradle, as always.
The Stationary Flex 1000 performs an excellent grinding process, thereby obtaining high quality and density Proler in output. The final recovery takes place via a zig-zag air separator, series ZZ 10000, which releases the metal from light inert residues.
Unlike the non-magnetic output, upon leaving the hammer mill, it is treated in line by the Panizzolo ECP 1000 eddy current, thereby completing the recovery and cleaning of the aluminium from inert.

Fast installation and implementation of its solutions are standard in Panizzolo systems. The customer was able to immediately start working at full working regime in a very short time.
Panizzolo quality is a factor that is also evident over time. The plants respect the key phrase “time is money”: they are designed to operate in continuous production cycles; maintenance is simple and basic; and the processing logic reduces the consumption of electricity (without affecting hourly productivity), also when recovering the most abrasive and heavy waste.

Panizzolo at Assofermet conference

Panizzolo will sponsorship the Assofermet – iron & metals italian companies association – congress at Confcommercio in Rome.

From mixed cans to high quality iron proler

In July, the latest Panizzolo mixed cans recycling plants has been set up. Thanks to the efficient treatment, the quick installation and start up Panizzolo solutions are considered the top in the field and continuously requested both in Italy and abroad.

The new recycling plant consists of a Flex 1000 Stationary and an air separation system through ZIG-ZAG, for the iron proler cleaning.

Flex Series hammermills (stationary or transportable) perform excellent treatment with packed or pressed cans up to 65% of inert inside. The hammers are available with specific castings against glass wear.
Depending on the production and the cleaning quality needs, Panizzolo recycling plant can be completed with accessories such as Zig-Zag, eddy current, dynamic shake and more.

Panizzolo’s hammermills carry out efficient grinding: they roll the iron into a ball and, by means of zig-zag separators, they remove the scrap.
A high-density Proler is thus obtained and falls well within the parameters required for taking it to the foundry.

Panizzolo hammermill’s quality and grinding efficiency is guaranteed by the patented in interchangeable cradle.

South Korea and WEEE treatment: Flex 800 Hammermill is on the way

The Republic of Korea is one of the top leaders in the design and construction of innovative technological products (both industrial and domestic). For this reason, it is not a novelty to find, by companies operating in the recycling sector, the growing need to process in the best way the electrical and electronic waste from WEEE.

These companies have identified Panizzolo as an excellent partner in the supply of simple and effective recycling solutions, compact and dynamic, flexible and tireless, capable of enhancing the copper and metals contained in WEEE waste.
With the previous Flex 1000 Mobile Drum (installed at the beginning of 2018 in a large metal scrap collection company), they were able to examine the transportable hammermill in action and verify its efficiency, productivity, output quality and low energy costs necessary.

With the interchangeable cradles (Panizzolo patented system), the hammermills (both stationary and mobile), performing excellent WEEE pre-grinding and refining processing.
The Panizzolo hammermills range reaches the complete metals cleaning, transforming the waste into raw material ready to be sold to foundries.
These solutions also drastically reduce operating costs, wear and simplify maintenance. In addition, that technologies have been patented by the company thanks to 30 years direct experiences in this sector.

In April, a stationary Flex 800 has been sent in South Korea. Through a 160 kW electric motor the hammermill allow a production up to 8 tons/hour.
The recycling solution has been sold to a large South Korean company that collects waste from WEEE. Flex 800 will allow the company to perform an excellent material grinding in order to prepare it for the magnetic separation (through the Panizzolo module, installed after the Flex 800 output).

The Stationary Flex 800 has been specially packaged for the long sea voyage before arriving from the Korean company. The Panizzolo philosophy is always to perform the best and quick installation and commissioning. For this reason, its extremely careful attention is extended to the components boarding preparation for the container ship.
The packing steps are performed by a specialized and certified company. Panizzolo technicians work side by side with that company, so the transport safety and the machine integrity is put in the first place.
The disassembled components are distributed in different blocks, fixed inside specific wooden structures and finally inserted and locked inside the containers. Before leaving for the port, the technicians register the identification number of the container and its contents, while an operator lock the access doors.
During the month of travel, another problem to avoid is the sea salt aggressiveness and atmospheric agents (heat, humidity, rain infiltration, etc). For this reason the components are enclosed and sealed inside special bags, designed specifically for the complete isolation.

Panizzolo recycling solutions presence will be continuously increasing in the Republic of Korea during the 2018. Local companies show a continuous and growing interest in the quality of the Paduan company’s plants, designed thanks to the direct experience in the metal waste treatment sector.
